Customer Supplied Parts Policy
At Express Automotive Service, our top priorities are safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. For these reasons, we have a strict policy of not installing customer-supplied parts. We understand that some customers may wish to provide their own parts in an effort to save money, but there are several important reasons why we cannot accommodate this request
- Risk of Counterfeit or Substandard Parts
- The market is flooded with counterfeit and substandard automotive parts that can appear identical to genuine components but lack the quality and reliability required for safe operation. These parts may fail prematurely or not perform to manufacturer specifications, posing serious risks to your vehicle and your safety. As a professional repair facility, we cannot verify the authenticity or integrity of parts we did not source ourselves.
- No Warranty or Guarantee
- When we supply the parts, we stand behind both the parts and the labor with a 1 year warranty. If there’s an issue, we take care of it—no questions asked. However, when a customer provides their own parts, we cannot offer any warranty or guarantee on those parts, nor can we warranty the labor associated with installing them. This creates uncertainty for both the customer and our shop.
- Liability and Insurance Concerns
- Installing unknown or unverified parts exposes our business to significant liability. If a customer-supplied part fails and causes damage to your vehicle—or worse, it leads to an accident—our insurance will not cover it. As a trusted repair facility, we must adhere to strict industry standards and protect the interests of our customers and our business.
- Compatibility and Fitment Issues
- Even when purchased from reputable retailers, customer-supplied parts are often incorrect or incompatible with the vehicle due to variations in model years, trims, or aftermarket design. Diagnosing fitment issues takes additional time, causes delays, and may lead to unnecessary repair costs. Our technicians are trained to select the right part the first time using verified supplier databases.
